Italian bind off

Hi knitters!

Today you will learn how to weave in the ends in a different way, so your garment will look like rib stitch. It’s great for sleeve ends and collars knitted in Rib stitch 1×1.

This way of weaving is known as Italian bind off, and it’s the best way of weaving in the ends for rib stitch.

First of all, you have to prepare your garment. In the last two rows, knit all knitted stitches as usual and pass the purled stitches on your right needle without purling and with the thread ahead your work.

Now your garment is ready, you can start… Follow these steps:

  1. Pass your little sewing needle through the first stitch, as you can see in the picture.

2.  Take the first stitch of the needle

 3. Pass the little sewing needle through the second stitch, from ahead to back, as you can see in the picture.

4. Now pass the little sewing needle through the first and the third stitch on your left needle.

 5. Let’s go to the second stitch again

6. Take the stitches 2 and 3.

Repeat the steps from 2 and 6, until you cast off all the stitches.

This technique could be a bit confusing, but not complicated. Just practice a bit before casting off the stitches of the final garment. It will look perfect! 😉
