Hi knitters!
Today we would like to show you ‘the hive knit’.
This super scrubby stitch looks very similar to a honeycomb and incredible after finishing your project! We highly recommend knitting this honeycomb technique on garments with a large space so that you can get more volume and better forms on your project.
The Hive Stitch is an advanced level technique but we will try to explain every stitch step by step. Follow our steps and get the best wool honeycomb ever! Let’s start!
Cast on a number of stitches multiple of 8 + 2 stitches.
Row 1: purl all the stitches.
Row 2: knit all the stitches.
Row 3: purl all the stitches.
Rows 4, 6, 8 and 10: knit the first stitch, (*purl 3 stitches, pass 2 stitches to the right needle, do not knit them and leave the thread over the needle (in front), purl 3 more stitches).
(*Tejemos 3 puntos del revés, pasamos 2 puntos a la aguja derecha, sin tejer y con la hebra por arriba, tejemos 3 puntos del revés).
Repeat this step (*) until the last stitch and knit it.
Rows 5, 7 and 9: knit the first stitch, (*knit 3 stitches, pass 2 stitches to the right needle, do not knit them and leave the thread over the needle, knit 3 more stitches).
Repeat this step (*) until the last stitch and knit it.
Row 11: purl all the stitches.
Row 12: knit all the stitches.
Row 13: purl all the stitches.
Row 14, 16, 18 and 20: knit the first stitch, (*pass 1 stitch to the right needle, do not knit them and leave the thread in front, purl 6 stitches, pass 1 stitch to the right needle, do not knit the stitch and leave again the thread in front). Repeat this step (*) until the last stitch and knit it.
Rows 15, 17 and 19: knit the first stitch, (*pass 1 stitch to the right needle, do not knit them and leave the thread in front, knit 6 stitches, pass 1 stitch to the right needle, do not knit the stitch and leave again the thread behind). Repeat this step (*) until the last stitch and knit it.
Repeat these 20 rows lengthwise on your WAK project.
We really hope you’ll like the result! The honeycomb is great! Combine different yarn balls and mix the colors. Show us your results on Instagram using the hashtag #weareknitters 🙂
