Hi knitters!

Today in our series we introduce you to Maria Jesús, a knitter from Spain, who loves our wool yarn balls  and pima cotton and has knitted some of our patterns. If you want to know more about her, we are leaving you an interview here that tells us about her beginnings, interests and much more.

When did you start knitting?

When I was 6 years old. My paternal grandmother was an expert knitter, like many of the other grandmas during that time, and she was the one who taught me to knit and purl. Not bad for my age!

What are your favorite stitches and techniques?

Bobble stitch is my favorite, without a doubt. I like it on all types of garments, from scarves to sweaters to hats….

What are your favorite WAK garments?

I think the Nina tee is lovely. I love the bobbles of course and they give it a very romantic touch. Right now I’m knitting the Pacific Sweater in grey and wine yarn… it’s adorable.

Which person, dead or alive, would you like to meet?

Sooo many! But off the top of my head, I would choose Carl Sagan. I’m passionate about astronomy and he was the one who best explained this very much unknown world to us common mortals, without a doubt.

Which of your knitting creations are you most proud of?

A baby blanket that I made years ago. Not so much for the difficulty, but for the sentimental value.

What advice would you give to knitters that are learning how to knit now?

To enjoy knitting and ignore those who say that it’s for old people!! Well yes, if knitting is for old people, I must be at least 80… hahaha and I’m glad!

If you could travel back in time, what time period would you like to live in?

Without a doubt, I would go to the time of the French Revolution. It gave us a lot, taught us a lot, we owe a lot to it and because of this, we are reminded of it very often.

Aside from knitting, what other hobbies do you have?

I love to play piano, listen to opera and play with my sons who are 1 and 2 years old… I don’t have time to be bored!

Are there any challenges that you haven’t attempted to knit yet?

A cableknit sweater! Because of the size of the project. I control the cables… haha

What is your favorite movie?

“El Gatopardo” (The Leopard) by Visconti.

Any awesome concert that you’ve been to and sticks out in your mind?

The Rolling Stones in San Sebastian years ago… everyone should go to a Stones concert at least once… spectacular in all ways.

What time and moment of the day inspire you to knit the most?

The nighttime without a doubt. After dinner when I am in bed with the TV on… My moment of tranquility for the day.

What is your stand-out dish when friends come over for dinner?

Pizza!!! Normal pizza and chocolate pizza…. yummmm
