These little crochet pumpkins are perfect to keep cookies, candies and sweets, and at the same time decorate your home for the fall season. You use the same technique as you would to make amigurumi, working in the round for each piece, you can find the pattern here:

MATERIALS

One skein of petite wool in peach.

 

– leftover petite wool in taupe and forest green.

Beechwood crochet hook US size 8.
With one ball of peach you will have enough to make two pumpkins.

PUMPKIN

The body of the pumpkin is worked in the round, as for an amigurumi.

 

Chain 2 onto the crochet hook with the color peach.
Round 1: work 6 single crochets into the second chain from the hook. The next stitch you work will join the first single crochet to the last to form a ring.

Round 2: increase 1 stitch in each single crochet. At the end of the round you will have a total of 12 stitches.

Round 3: *increase 1 stitch and 1 single crochet*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round.  At the end of the round you will have a total of 18 stitches.
Round 4: * increase 1 stitch and 2 single crochets *. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round.  At the end of the round you will have a total of 24 stitches.
Round 5: * increase 1 stitch and 3 single crochets *. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round.  At the end of the round you will have a total of 30 stitches.
Round 6: * increase 1 stitch and 4 single crochets *. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round.  At the end of the round you will have a total of 36 stitches.

Round 7: work 1 single crochet into each stitch through the back loop.

 

Round 8: * increase 1 stitch and 5 single crochets *. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round.  At the end of the round you will have a total of 42 stitches.

Round 9: * increase 1 stitch and 6 single crochets *. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round.  At the end of the round you will have a total of 48 stitches.
Rounds 10-14: work 1 single crochet into all of the stitches.

Round 15: *decrease one stitch and 6 single crochets*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round.  At the end of the round you will have a total of 42 stitches.

Round 16: work 1 single crochet into all of the stitches.

Round 17: *decrease one stitch and 5 single crochets*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round.  At the end of the round you will have a total of 36 stitches.
Round 18: *decrease one stitch and 4 single crochets*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round.  At the end of the round you will have a total of 30 stitches.

Finish with 1 slip stitch and fasten off.

LID

The lid of the pumpkin is also worked in the round.

Chain 2 onto the crochet hook with color peach.
Round 1: work 6 single crochets into the second chain from the hook. The next stitch you work will join the first single crochet to the last to form a ring.

Round 2: increase 1 stitch in each single crochet. At the end of the round you will have a total of 12 stitches.

Round 3:  *increase 1 stitch and 1 single crochet*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round.  At the end of the round you will have a total of 18 stitches.
Round 4: *increase 1 stitch and 2 single crochets*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round.  At the end of the round you will have a total of 24 stitches.

Round 5: *increase 1 stitch and 3 single crochets*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round.  At the end of the round you will have a total of 30 stitches.

Round 6: Working only through the back loop, **increase 1 stitch and 4 single crochets*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round.  At the end of the round you will have a total of 36 stitches.
Round 7: work 1 single crochet into all of the stitches.

PUMPKIN STEM

Chain 2 onto the crochet hook with the color taupe.

Row 1: work 4 single crochets into the second chain.

Rows 2-5: work a single crochet into all stitches.

Finish with a slip stitch and fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail to sew your pieces together.

LEAF

Chain 8 onto the crochet hook with the color forest green.

Row 1: starting in the second stitch from the hook, work 3 single crochets, 1 half double crochet, and 2 double crochets.  Continue working along the bottom edge of the foundation chain. Work 2 double crochets, 1 half double crochet, and 3 single crochets.

Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail to sew your pieces together.

To join the pieces, sew the stem onto the center of the lid of the pumpkin, and then sew the leaf onto the base of the stem, with just 2 stitches the leaf will stay in place. And there you have it!
